Alpine details

Smallest mainstream Linux.
Hardened by default.

About 5 MB base. musl libc instead of glibc. BusyBox replacing GNU coreutils. OpenRC instead of systemd. The result: a Linux that boots in seconds and uses 30-50 MB RAM idle. The most-used base image in the Docker ecosystem, for the same reasons.

Use cases

Why builders choose
Cloudzy's Alpine VPS.

Container hosts & k3s nodes

Alpine is the canonical lightweight Linux for container workloads. k3s nodes, Docker hosts, Podman boxes, small footprint means more headroom for the actual workloads.

Edge & static-site delivery

Tiny image, fast boot, low RAM idle. Run nginx, Caddy, or static-server on Alpine for an edge node that costs pennies and recovers from a reboot in seconds.

Firewalls, VPN, and gateway boxes

WireGuard built in, OpenVPN current, nftables / iptables at the kernel layer. Alpine's small attack surface and hardened defaults make it the right pick for network appliances.

Privacy / Tor relays

Run a Tor middle relay or bridge on a 1 GB Alpine VPS. Alpine's minimal install means almost everything running is for the relay, not for the OS.

CI runners & build slaves

Alpine boots in seconds, has tiny RAM overhead, and ships current toolchains. Self-hosted GitHub Actions or GitLab Runner on Alpine costs noticeably less than on glibc distros.

Lightweight game servers

Minecraft (paper / fabric), CS / Source servers, Factorio headless, many game servers run cleanly on Alpine. Small base + fast boot means more RAM for the world.

FAQ. Alpine Linux VPS

Common questions, straight answers.

What makes Alpine Linux special?

Three things: a tiny base (around 5 MB for a minimal install), musl libc instead of glibc, and BusyBox replacing GNU coreutils. The result is one of the smallest, fastest-booting Linux distros, popular as the base for Docker images, embedded systems, and unikernels.

What is musl libc and does it matter?

musl is a small, fast, MIT-licensed C library used in place of glibc. Most software builds against musl with no changes; some prebuilt binaries (e.g. some Node.js native modules, some Java JDKs, certain proprietary tools) target glibc only and need a musl-compatible build. Alpine has clear docs on the differences.

Which Alpine versions do you offer?

Current Alpine stable releases as one-click images, plus the previous stable still in support. Alpine releases on a roughly 6-month cadence with about 2 years of supported updates per release. The image is updated regularly so first boot is close to current.

Can I run Docker on Alpine?

Yes. Alpine is the most popular base image for Docker by far. Run Docker, Podman, or just systemd-nspawn on the host; build images `FROM alpine:latest` for tiny, fast-shipping containers. The Alpine VPS itself uses about 30-50 MB of RAM idle.

Is Alpine a good fit for production servers?

Yes for stateless workloads (web frontends, API edges, container hosts, k3s nodes), edge networking (firewalls, VPN endpoints), and anywhere RAM and disk are tight. For database servers or Java-heavy workloads where glibc compatibility matters, Debian or Ubuntu may be a smoother fit.

What is apk and how does it compare to apt / dnf?

apk is Alpine's native package manager, simple, fast, and small. Run `apk add nginx postgresql` like you would `apt install`. The entire apk database is a few MB. Native repos cover the basics; community and edge repos extend coverage to most server software.

How fast does Alpine provision and boot?

60 seconds from paid order to root SSH on Cloudzy. Once booted, Alpine itself comes up in 1-3 seconds, small kernel, minimal init scripts, OpenRC instead of systemd by default. The whole image is small enough that snapshot / clone / rebuild operations are unusually fast.

Do I get root access on Alpine?

Yes, full root SSH on every plan. KVM virtualization means you can change kernels, modify firewall rules (Alpine uses iptables / nftables), and load any kernel module. The Alpine kernel ships hardened by default with grsec-style options enabled.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes, 14 days from purchase, no questions asked, full refund. Apply from the panel or email [email protected].

What payment methods do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover, PayPal, and crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT). Wire transfer is available for annual contracts over $1,000.
