FAQ. CS2 / CS:GO VPS

Is this for CS2 or CS:GO?
Both. Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) replaced CS:GO in late 2023, and the dedicated server stack is similar. You can install the CS2 dedicated server via SteamCMD on Linux, or run the legacy CS:GO server if you have a copy. Either way, you get full root SSH and a dedicated IPv4.

Can I run SourceMod and MetaMod plugins?
Yes. SourceMod and MetaMod:Source both run cleanly on the Linux dedicated server. Drop your plugins in addons/sourcemod/plugins, restart, you're live. AlliedModders, GFLClan, and most community plugin repos work out of the box.

How many slots can I run?
Slot count is set in your server config (sv_maxplayers). Most public 5v5 servers run 10–12 slots; community DM and surf servers run 24–32. RAM is the limiting factor, 4 GB handles 32 slots comfortably; 8 GB if you're running plugin-heavy custom modes.

What about GOTV / Source TV?
Both supported. Set tv_enable 1 in your config, allocate the GOTV port (default 27020), and viewers can spectate live or you can record demos for later review. No extra fees.

Will my server lag during firefights?
Counter-Strike performance is dominated by single-thread CPU speed. Our AMD EPYC tiers give you dedicated cores, no shared CPU, no noisy neighbours. For the highest single-thread speed, our High Frequency CPU plans run 4.2 GHz+ Ryzen at the same price point.

Which regions are best?

Can I host community modes, surf, bhop, KZ, retake?
Yes. Install the relevant plugins (Sourcemod-Anti-Rush, ksf-stats, retakes-plugin, etc.), drop the maps in maps/, and restart. Community-mode servers work the same way as competitive servers, you just point sv_pure to 0 and load custom content.

How fast does it deploy?
60-second provisioning. Pick Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, get root SSH, install steamcmd, run +login anonymous +force_install_dir ./csserver +app_update 730 validate +quit, edit server.cfg, screen -S cs ./srcds_run -game csgo, you're live.
