What is a Prometheus VPS?

A Prometheus VPS is a Cloudzy cloud server running Prometheus, the open-source metrics collector. Prometheus scrapes targets over HTTP, stores time-series in its TSDB, evaluates rules, and pushes alerts to Alertmanager. Pair with Grafana to build dashboards on top.

Is Prometheus pre-installed?

Prometheus, Alertmanager, and node-exporter are available as a one-click install from the panel. Pick a Linux template; the systemd units come up; Prometheus is reachable on port 9090 and Alertmanager on 9093. Bind to your dedicated IP, slap a Caddy reverse proxy in front for HTTPS.

What's the minimum VPS size?

The 512 MB plan handles a tiny lab (a handful of targets, short retention). 1–2 GB suits a small project. 4 GB+ if you have hundreds of series, busy alerting, and 30-day retention. NVMe makes the TSDB happy at every size.

How long can I retain metrics?

Default is 15 days. Bump `--storage.tsdb.retention.time=90d` and it'll keep 90 days within your NVMe quota. For multi-month / multi-year retention, pair with Thanos or Mimir on a second VPS, both work well on Cloudzy hardware.

Can I run Alertmanager on the same box?

Yes. Alertmanager is small (under 100 MB RAM in most cases). Same systemd unit, same VPS, distinct port. Configure routes for PagerDuty, Slack, Discord, email, or webhooks.

What about exporters, node, blackbox, snmp, etc.?

All run on the VPS or on the targets you scrape. node-exporter ships with the one-click install. Blackbox lives on the same VPS for HTTP/TCP/ICMP probes. SNMP-exporter for network gear. Add them as systemd units; Prometheus picks them up via static or service-discovery configs.

How fast is provisioning?

Once payment is confirmed, your VPS is live in 60 seconds. With the Prometheus one-click installed, the daemon is up within another minute. You'll receive an email with the IP, root password, and SSH connection string.

Do I get a dedicated IP?

Yes, every VPS comes with a dedicated static IPv4 plus IPv6. Reach Prometheus over the dedicated IP, terminate TLS via Caddy, point a `prom.example.com` at it. Floating IPs are available.

Are there hidden fees?

No. Egress is included in your monthly transfer allotment. Snapshots are free. IPv4 + IPv6 are included. Root access is included. The only paid extras are Floating IPs ($2.50/month) and additional snapshots beyond the free quota.
