What is Windows Server 2012 VPS?
A Windows Server 2012 VPS is a virtual private server running Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2. You connect over RDP and get full administrator rights. Server 2012 reached end-of-life on October 10, 2023. Cloudzy offers it for compatibility with apps that haven't been re-certified on a newer Windows. Use it knowingly.
Should I run Server 2012 in production?
Only if you have to. Server 2012 reached end-of-life in October 2023 and stops receiving security patches outside of paid Microsoft Extended Security Updates (ESU). Pick 2012 only when an app vendor has not certified anything newer and you can't replace the app. For everything else, pick Server 2022 or 2025.
What about the Windows Server 2012 license?
These legacy versions are offered for compatibility with apps that won't run elsewhere. You'll need to provide your own license. Microsoft no longer issues new licenses or trial keys for Server 2012, so bring your existing volume key, ESU subscription, or per-server license.
Can I get security patches?
Only via Microsoft's paid Extended Security Updates program. ESU runs through October 2026 for Server 2012/2012 R2 and is licensed separately by Microsoft. We can host the VPS, the ESU contract is between you and Microsoft (or a CSP partner).
What can Server 2012 run?
IIS 8, Hyper-V 2012, AD DS 2012, SQL Server 2012/2014, ASP.NET 4.5, .NET Framework 4.5/4.6, classic ASP, and most Win32 apps from that era. It does not run modern .NET (Core/5+), TLS 1.3, or any post-2017 Windows feature.
