What is a WireGuard VPS?
A WireGuard VPS is a cloud server you control end-to-end so you can run the WireGuard VPN protocol on it. WireGuard is a modern, kernel-native VPN that's faster and simpler than OpenVPN or IPsec, typically a few hundred lines of config and a single UDP port. With root access on Cloudzy, you spin one up in 60 seconds, install wg-easy or the wireguard-tools package, and you have a private tunnel for yourself, your family, or your team.
Why pick WireGuard over OpenVPN or IPsec?
WireGuard runs in the Linux kernel, uses modern crypto (Curve25519, ChaCha20-Poly1305, BLAKE2s), and stays connected through network changes, phones in particular handle Wi-Fi-to-cellular handoff cleanly. The codebase is small enough to audit. In practical terms: faster handshakes, less battery drain, and no lingering 'connected but no traffic' states.
Which OS images come with WireGuard ready?
Ubuntu 22.04/24.04 LTS, Debian 12/13, AlmaLinux 9, Rocky Linux 9, and Fedora all ship with kernel WireGuard support. You can install in one apt or dnf command, or use the wg-easy Docker image for a web UI. We don't bundle a panel, you stay in control of your config.
How many devices can connect to one WireGuard VPS?
WireGuard scales easily into the thousands of peers per server, the limiting factor is RAM and bandwidth, not the protocol. A 512 MB plan is comfortable for 5-10 personal devices. A 4 GB plan handles a small office. WireGuard's userspace overhead is much lower than OpenVPN's, so single-vCPU plans go further.
Can I run WireGuard alongside other services on the same VPS?
Yes. WireGuard is just a kernel module plus userspace tools, and uses one UDP port (51820 by default). You can run a web server, a Pi-hole, an Outline server, or any other workload on the same box. Many users layer Pi-hole + WireGuard for a private, ad-blocking VPN.
Is the VPN traffic logged?
We don't log VPN traffic itself, what's inside the tunnel is your business. Standard infrastructure logs (login attempts to the VPS, billing) exist as you'd expect from any cloud provider. WireGuard itself is logless by design, there's no 'connection log' the way OpenVPN has.
How fast can a Cloudzy WireGuard VPS go?
On the 4 GB DDR5 / 2 vCPU plan, real-world WireGuard throughput regularly hits 1-3 Gbps over the 40 Gbps uplink, depending on region and peer-side hardware. Single-thread CPU is the usual ceiling, which is why we run AMD EPYC with strong single-core performance.
