What is a Zabbix Proxy VPS?
A Zabbix Proxy VPS is a Cloudzy cloud server running Zabbix Proxy, the lightweight component that polls hosts on behalf of a central Zabbix Server. The proxy collects locally, buffers if the link drops, and pushes (active mode) or is pulled-from (passive mode) by the central server. Use one per region or per NAT'd network.
Is the proxy pre-installed?
Zabbix Proxy is available as a one-click install from the panel. Pick a Linux template, the binary lands on your PATH, the systemd unit comes up, and the proxy registers with your central Zabbix Server within a minute. Use SQLite for the smallest footprint, MySQL for heavier polling.
When do I need a proxy?
Three common cases: (1) hosts behind NAT or strict firewalls that the central Zabbix Server can't reach directly; (2) remote regions where polling-over-WAN would be slow; (3) you want the central server to scale by offloading polling. A proxy is the right answer in all three.
Active vs. passive mode?
Active proxy initiates the connection to the central server (good for proxies behind NAT). Passive proxy waits for the central server to connect to it (good when the proxy is on a public IP and the server isn't). Both work; pick based on which side has the firewall.
What's the minimum VPS size?
The 512 MB plan handles a small branch office (a handful of hosts, 1-minute polling). 1 GB suits a regional office. 2–4 GB if the proxy is doing heavy SNMP discovery or aggregating hundreds of hosts. Storage scales with how much you buffer if the central server is unreachable.
Will the proxy buffer data if the central server goes down?
Yes. Zabbix Proxy keeps collected data in its local DB (SQLite or MySQL) and forwards once the central server is reachable again. Set `ProxyOfflineBuffer` in `zabbix_proxy.conf` to the hours of buffer you need; NVMe makes this comfortably fast even at high write rates.
Can the proxy use TLS to the server?
Yes. Zabbix supports TLS-encrypted communication between proxy and server (PSK or full PKI). Configure once, set the cert / PSK on both ends, and all data on the wire is encrypted. Ideal when the proxy is in a different cloud or on a partner network.
How fast is provisioning?
