A ClearOS VPS is a virtual private server running ClearOS, a CentOS/RHEL-derived distribution that ships as a SOHO/SMB IT appliance, with a web admin interface for gateway, file-sharing, mail, and content-filtering roles. You get full root, dedicated IPv4, and a 60-second deploy on Cloudzy's cloud.
Is ClearOS still actively developed?
ClearOS is largely end-of-life, the upstream project is no longer producing new releases on the same cadence it once did, and many SOHO buyers have moved to alternatives like AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, or pfSense for the gateway role. We still offer ClearOS images for organizations migrating off existing installs.
Why pick ClearOS over CentOS or AlmaLinux?
Pick ClearOS when you have an existing ClearOS deployment you need to mirror or migrate. For brand-new appliance roles, we'd usually point you at AlmaLinux 9 with the role-specific software you actually need, or a purpose-built distro like pfSense for the gateway use case.

yum, since ClearOS is RHEL/CentOS-derived. ClearOS layers a Webconfig admin interface on top of standard RHEL packaging, so apps you install via yum coexist with the appliance UI.
