What is a cPanel VPS?
A cPanel VPS is a Linux virtual server with cPanel + WHM installed on top. WHM (Web Host Manager) is the admin interface for the box itself; cPanel is the per-account dashboard for hosting clients. Together they're the most common control panel stack for shared and reseller hosting on Linux.
Is the cPanel license included?
No. Bring your own cPanel license, or contact sales to add a license to your order. Panel licensing is not included in the plan price. cPanel is a paid product owned by cPanel L.L.C., and licenses are billed per server tier — bring your existing one and we'll spin up the VPS to match it.
Which OS works best with cPanel?
cPanel officially supports AlmaLinux 8 / 9, Rocky Linux 8 / 9, CloudLinux 8 / 9, and Ubuntu 20.04 / 22.04. AlmaLinux 9 is the most common pick for new installations — it's the closest CentOS replacement and has the best support timeline. All four are available as one-click images at deploy time.
How much RAM do I need?
cPanel + WHM itself runs comfortably on 2 GB; with a handful of accounts and Apache + MySQL + Exim + Dovecot, plan on 4 GB or more. Reseller setups with 50+ accounts usually want 8 GB to leave headroom for traffic spikes. RAM is live-resizable, so you can start small and scale up later without rebuilding.
Can I install cPanel myself?
Yes. SSH into your VPS as root, fetch the installer from cpanel.net, run sh latest, and walk through the prompts. Plan on 30-45 minutes — the installer is doing a lot of compilation. After install, paste your license key into WHM and the panel goes live.
Can I migrate from another cPanel host?
Yes. WHM has a Transfer Tool that talks SSH to your old server and pulls accounts, databases, mail, and DNS over without touching files manually. Most agency migrations take an afternoon. We can recommend a region close to your old server to keep the transfer fast.
Does cPanel work on KVM?
Yes — KVM is a fully supported virtualization platform for cPanel. Cloudzy doesn't sell OpenVZ or LXC plans, so this is the only setup we offer, and it's the recommended one. Real kernel, real cgroups, no shared-host quirks.
How fast is provisioning?
The base VPS is live in 60 seconds. cPanel install adds 30-45 minutes after that. If you'd like us to run the installer for you, ask support during checkout — we can hand you a pre-installed box, license excluded, before you finish your coffee.
Are there any hidden fees?
No surprise fees on the VPS side. Egress, snapshots, IPv4 + IPv6 are all included. The only paid extras are Floating IPs ($2.50/month) and additional snapshots beyond the free quota. cPanel's license fee is paid separately to cPanel L.L.C. (or whoever you BYOL through).
