Can I host ARK Survival Evolved or Ascended?
Yes, both. ARK: Survival Evolved (the original) and ARK: Survival Ascended (the UE5 remake) both have Linux dedicated server builds. Install via SteamCMD (app id 376030 for SE, 2430930 for ASA), edit GameUserSettings.ini, run the binary.
How much RAM does ARK need?
ARK is RAM-hungry. ARK: SE wants 8 GB minimum, 16 GB comfortably with mods. ARK: ASA wants 16 GB minimum, 32 GB with mods. The map (Genesis, Ragnarok, Crystal Isles) and player count drive memory; expect 1–2 GB per active player on top.
Can I install mods from the Steam Workshop?
Yes for ARK: SE, drop your Workshop mod IDs in the GameModIds= setting in GameUserSettings.ini, restart, the server downloads them automatically. ASA uses CurseForge instead, install via the in-game mod browser or via SSH manually.
Can I run a cluster (multiple maps linked)?
Yes. Spin up multiple VPS instances (one per map: The Island, Ragnarok, Genesis, etc.), set the ClusterId in each GameUserSettings.ini, and players can transfer dinos and characters between them. We recommend high-RAM plans per map.
Will my server lag with 30+ players?
ARK is single-thread heavy and CPU-bound at high player counts with mods. Our AMD EPYC dedicated cores handle it; for maximum single-thread, our High Frequency CPU plans run 4.2 GHz+ Ryzen at the same price.
What about admin tools and RCON?
