Cloudzy has partnered with the University of Birmingham Rocket Propulsion Labs (UOBRPL), providing cloud infrastructure to support the student team's computational and engineering workloads as it develops rockets and other aerospace systems at the University of Birmingham Dubai.

UOBRPL is a student-led aerospace engineering lab working across high-power rocketry, avionics, structures, telemetry, electronics, and planetary exploration. Since 2022, the group has focused on giving students hands-on experience designing, building, testing, and operating real engineering systems.

The partnership extends that work into the infrastructure behind it.

UOBRPL is using Cloudzy servers for computing workloads and CAD file management, while the team says the additional infrastructure will also support simulations, lab operations, data processing, and its software development workflow.

“We rely on servers for computing power and CAD file management and for that, we trust Cloudzy. Their transparent pricing and unmatched AMD EPYC performance let us focus on engineering, not infrastructure.”

Manan Dua, President, UOBRPL

Cloudzy sponsors UOBRPL.

The timing comes during an active development season for the team. UOBRPL is participating in the 2025–26 UKSEDS National Rocketry Championship, where university teams are challenged to design, document, build, and launch a mid-power rocket carrying a payload. The team has also announced its participation in the MACH-26 rocketry competition in Scotland.

For a student engineering team, the work behind a launch extends well beyond the vehicle itself. Designs move through CAD, simulations and technical reviews before hardware is manufactured and tested. Avionics generate data that has to be processed and managed, while software and internal systems need reliable infrastructure throughout the development cycle.

Cloudzy's role is to provide that infrastructure without making server administration another engineering project for the team.

The partnership is part of Cloudzy's Education Program, which supports universities, student teams, professors, and independent researchers with access to cloud infrastructure. Eligible projects can receive cloud credits for compute and storage workloads, with infrastructure ranging from VPS instances to high-performance and GPU-based systems.

Both organizations are also based in Dubai, bringing the partnership particularly close to home for Cloudzy as UOBRPL continues building student aerospace capability at the University of Birmingham Dubai.
