A snapshot is a point-in-time copy of your Cloudzy VPS, capturing its entire state, including the operating system, installed software, configurations, and all data stored on the disk. Snapshots are a powerful tool for backups, testing, and safe server management, allowing you to restore your VPS to a previous state if something goes wrong.
Best Practices for Snapshots
-
Turn Off Your VPS: For maximum reliability, power off your VPS before taking a snapshot. Live snapshots (taken while the VPS is running) may lead to data inconsistencies or incomplete backups.
-
Monitor Disk Size: Snapshot creation time depends on the size of your VPS disk. Typical creation takes around 20 minutes, but larger disks may take longer.
-
Check Progress: If snapshot creation exceeds 1 hour, contact Cloudzy support via a ticket.
-
Cost Awareness: Each snapshot incurs a charge of $0.048 per GB per month.
How to Take a Snapshot on Cloudzy
Follow these steps to create a snapshot:
Select Your VPS: Go to the Services section in your Cloudzy Panel and choose the VPS you want to snapshot.
Open the Snapshot Tab: Navigate to the Snapshot tab for that VPS.
Enable Snapshot Creation: Tick the snapshot option and click Create.
Wait for Completion: Snapshot creation usually takes about 20 minutes, depending on your VPS disk size.
Verify Snapshot: Once completed, your snapshot will appear in the Snapshot list in the Cloudzy Panel.
Remember, snapshots cannot be downloaded. They exist solely for VPS restoration within the Cloudzy platform.
Snapshot Management Tips
-
Multiple Snapshots: You can maintain multiple snapshots for a single VPS, but keep track of costs, as each snapshot is billed separately.
-
Restore Carefully: Always double-check which snapshot you are restoring from to avoid overwriting important data.
-
Remove Old Snapshots: To save costs, delete outdated or unnecessary snapshots from your panel.
